  26.   What Are The Wave Utilities?

  29. The Wave Utilities 2.3 are a Multimedia Tool Package for Microsoft
  30. Windows. This package consists of Looper and Player, two sound
  31. applications.

  33. Looper is a Windows application that plays digitized audio files in
  34. wave format (files with the .wav extension) continuously in the
  35. background. It can handle all the types and formats of Wave files that
  36. your sound card is capable playing of. The size of the Wave file to be
  37. looped must not be larger than half of your installed physical memory
  38. (not the virtual memory Windows provides).
  39. You can easily stop and restart the looping process.
  40. With Looper you can have a lot of fun. It can almost turn your computer
  41. into a Sampler, a Beat Box or a drum machine.

  43. Player is a sound player which can handle all the types and formats of
  44. Wave files that your sound card is capable playing of. There are no
  45. limitations to the length of the Wave file to be played.
  46. You are now able to play Wave files by simply doubleclicking them in
  47. the File Manager. Normally, this isn't the case - launching a Wave file
  48. calls up the Sound Recorder with the Wave file loaded in memory.
  49. If you have a Pro AudioSpectrum 16 or compatible sound card, you can
  50. use its feature to play back two Wave files simultaneously with Looper
  51. and Player. Player can also play Wave files while you're playing .mod
  52. files and much more.
  53. Once you installed Player, launching a Wave file from the File Manager
  54. or Norton Desktop For Windows drive window will play the sound. This
  55. allows greater flexibility for organizing and playing sounds. For
  56. example, you can now install all of your sounds in a Program Manager
  57. group. Doubleclicking their icons will then play them.
  58. By installing a Wave file in your Autostart Group you are now able to
  59. play a sound of unlimited length when Windows starts up.
  60. When you use Norton Desktop For Windows as your Windows Shell, you can
  61. make easy use of Player's feature to play back several Wave files after
  62. another.

  66.   What Software And Hardware Requirements Do They Have?

  69. You must have either Windows with Multimedia Extensions or Windows 3.1
  70. or above installed on your system. You will also need at least 1 Mega-
  71. byte of RAM and a sound card that is capable of playing back digitized
  72. sounds (such as a Sound Blaster card).
  73. It is also required that you put the file BWCC.DLL which comes with
  74. The Wave Utilities 2.3 in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. It contains
  75. the custom controls for The Wave Utilities. If you should already have
  76. a copy of it you only have to keep the one with the latest date.

  80.   How Do I Install Them On My System?

  83. The installation is very easy. Simply copy BWCC.DLL into your
  84. WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the Wave files into the directory where
  85. you store your other Wave files. The remaining files can be copied to
  86. any directory of your choice, e.g. C:\WINDOWS\WAVEUTIL.
  87. For more details, start Windows, load the Windows Help and open the
  88. WAVEUTIL.HLP file. If Windows is already running, start the Windows
  89. Help and open WAVEUTIL.HLP.
  90. You can also start the Windows Help from the DOS prompt.
  91. Assuming that WAVEUTIL.HLP is located in the WINDOWS\WAVEUTIL
  92. directory on drive c, simply enter this command at the DOS prompt:

  94. WINHELP C:\WINDOWS\WAVEUTIL\WAVEUTIL.HLP

  96. If WAVEUTIL.HLP is not in the above directory, just replace it with
  97. the correct directory.

  101.   Are The Wave Utilities Freeware Or Shareware Or What?

  104. The Wave Utilities are released as Shareware. This means that you can
  105. use them for two weeks without any restrictions, but after that period
  106. you must either register or delete them. When you register, you will
  107. receive a unique Personal Registration Code (PRC). With this PRC you
  108. can turn the Shareware Versions of Looper and Player into registered
  109. versions.
  110. But that's not all: Since we both don't like the update strategies
  111. of the big software companies, we're having our own.
  112. Once you're a registered customer, ALL future updates are free for you.
  113. Just download the latest version, enter your PRC and you have the
  114. latest, registered version.

  116. The registration fee is only $15 (U.S. funds) when you send cash and
  117. $18 (U.S. funds) if you prefer to send a cheque (this is only to cover
  118. the fee for cashing the cheque). If you send a cheque, please make it
  119. payable to either one of us but not to TASsoft!

  121. To register, simply search for the registration form in The Wave
  122. Utilities help file and click the Print button to print it (You can
  123. also print the file REGISTER.FRM which is included in this archive).

  140. your PRC to unlock all future versions for only $5 (U.S. funds). If we
